A Sad Goodbye

"Quinlyn, I'm moving," Wea said once I answered the phone.
"Ha Ha, so funny, why'd you call?" I asked in disbelief. Wea can't move; she's just trying to prank me.
"I'm serious, Quinlyn, I wouldn't lie to you," she stated.
        "Okay, sure," I said sarcastically.
        "Why don't you believe me?!"
"Because you can't move! You're my best friend."
"It's not like I want to," she stated.
"When? When are you leaving?" I asked starting to believe her.
        "Next week, on Friday."
It was a cloudy Friday afternoon during the summer of 2010. My mom was trying to convince me I'd make new friends, but I didn't want to hear it, so I blocked her out and watched the Alders out the window as we passed by. I was on my way to Wea's family's apartment out the road, to say goodbye. I got out of the car on the left side, because that's where I always sit. Once we pulled into her driveway I walked to her door trying not to cry. I took a deep breath and knocked hard because her door has this sign that says, "Knock hard so we can hear." After a minute or so she opened the door. We just stared at each other. It was a mix of knowing the other to well for words, and not knowing what to say.
"I don't want yo to move," I said breaking the silence, and she pulled me into a hug.
        "I'll miss you," she said.
"I'll miss you, too," I said as the tears started falling.
"It wont be forever, we can visit each other," she said reassuringly.
        "It wont be the same."
"No, it won't, but you need to suck it up, get it together and be the happy, bubbly Quinlyn everyone knows. You will make new friends. You're the social one," she said in attempt to make me laugh.
"They won't be as good of friends."
        "Yes they will."
"Why do you have to go?" I asked changing the subject.
"I've already told you, my dad needs better medical care, my brother's going to college there, all of my family lives there. I have to go, I don't want to, but I have to."
"I know you've told me but I just don't want to believe it."
        "You'll have to eventually."
        "I know."
My mom honked the car horn signaling to me that I had to hurry up.
"I have to go. I'll miss you," I said with one last hug.
"I'll call you when I get there," she said breaking the hug.
"Goodbye," I said walking back to the car.
        "See you later alligator!"
"Don't forget about me!" I yelled back at her as I was about to open the car door.
Right before I closed the door I heard one more thing, "wouldn't think of it!"
        "Goodbye." I whispered to myself.
I was wrong, Wea was right. I've made great friends. I'll make more, and I'll lose more. Wea will always be one of my best friends, even after we stop talking. It still makes me sad that she's gone, but I'll get over it. In my mind, friendship, will triumph over everything.

Once Upon a Marigold Book Review

Once Upon a Marigold by Jean Ferris is about a boy named Christian who gets ‘adopted’ by a troll named Ed and falls in love with a princess names Marigold. In the beginning of the book Ed finds Christian in the woods as a young boy and takes him home to spend the night in his cave and they would find his family in the morning. After a handful of arguments Christian wins and ends up spending the rest of his childhood living in a cave. At the age of seventeen Christian sends a note to princess Marigold after he’d been watching her from his telescope for a while and they become best friends/ pen pals. While learning more about Marigold he finds out she has a curse on her where whenever she touches someone she can hear their thoughts. Then one day Ed has a conversation with Christian about him moving on, going out into the world, finding a job and creating a life for myself and Christian decides to go across the river to the castle to find a job. After a while of working at the castle Marigold finds out that Christian works there and even though it doesn't say it you can tell they love each other even though Marigold was to be married off to someone else. While wandering the castle halls Christian hears Olympia, Marigolds mom, talking to her pet ferret about her plan to murder King Swithbert and Marigold to have the throne all to herself then tells Marigold about her mother's plan. On the day of the wedding Olympia being her crazy self locks Marigold and Christian in the dungeon for idiotic reasons until the wedding so they don't ruin anything. King Swithbert finds out about all the nonsense going on and unlocks Marigold out of the dungeon, during the beginning of the wedding about to say I do Christian comes bursting in on a flying contraption powered by his dogs to stop the wedding. While trying to save Marigold, Christian gets hit with an arrow and Marigold saves him by keeping her hands pressed to his wound, it must have been from her curse because after that it went away. Olympia ends up falling off a cliff and Marigold and Christian end up getting married after they find out that he's the rightful heir to the throne of Zandelphia.
One of the main themes in the book is that love will always win if it's meant to be no matter who it's between. An example of how this theme is shown is how in the end even though Christian and Marigold both doubted that they would ever even meet they end up getting married. Another example is how when Marigold saved Christians life he broke her curse. A third example is that they both married their best friends and that's a sign that they were made to be together. That is why I think the main theme of this book is that love will always win if it's meant to be no matter who it's between.
I would definitely recommend this book to other seventh graders, or anyone for that matter. I think all types of book lovers would enjoy reading this book. It's about love, adventure, hopes for a different life, friendship, dreams, new beginnings and good endings. I also think this book will help people realize that true love is out there and anyone can find it. That is why I would recommend this book to people.

Rich People Should Have Higher Taxes

Rich People Shouldn't be on top. They make more than the rest of us so they should pay more, not less. Most rich people are greedy, and that's not a good lifestyle. If rich people did pay more we would have a stronger middle class. Rich people should have higher taxes.
Firstly, they make more money than the rest of us, so they should pay more, not less. If the rich gave more to the less fortunate we wouldn't have this problem, but they don't so they should pay higher taxes instead. Even paying spare money is good. If they paid more we would have more people in the middles class. That's why I think that if you have more money than others you should pay more, not less.
Secondly, the rich can be greedy, and that's not good for their lifestyle. They need to learn to give to the less fortunate. Rich people shouldn't be so selfish and giving away some money could help not to be. That is shy rich people shouldn't be so greedy.
Thirdly, if rich people paid higher taxes we would have a stronger middle class. Most of the money would go to the middle class. It would create better and more middle class jobs. If we get a stronger middle class we would get a better society. That's why I think we should have a stronger middle class.
In conclusion, rich people should have higher taxes. They make more money than the rest of us so they should pay more, not less. Rich people can be greedy, and that's not healthy. If rich people paid more we would have a stronger middle class. Now, you should do something about it, write a letter to the president, make a sign and walk around your town, anything, just do something to help make the rich pay higher taxes!

Fill-In-the-Blank Essay

Quinlyn, The Best Art Teacher There Ever Was!
When I grow up I think I'd make a great art teacher. I've always enjoyed school. One of my favorite things to do is be in art class. I even have some experience with art from observing Mr. Lass . I really like spending time with children, I want to give back to my community and I love art, therefore, I will be the best art teacher that ever was!
Being good with kids has always come naturally to me. There was that time when I watched over my old babysitters kids. I'm always around younger kids. Whenever I hang out with little kids, I always have fun. Being able to talk to kids is the first step along the path to becoming an art teacher
Giving back is another thing I really enjoy. It's so exciting to give back to people. When I'm giving back I feel good about myself. I am to giving back , what One Direction is to singing, I love it. Being able to give back to people for the rest of my life would be great!
Loving art takes a special talent. I gained a lot of experience at loving art as I grew up. I learned a lot about about loving art. For example, I have my paintings hung up all over my house. The time I spend loving art is sure to give me an advantage when it comes to becoming an art teacher.
The three most important ingredients required in order to becoming a successful art teacher is to like hanging out with kids, giving back, and loving art, and I've got them all! I want to be successful art teacher. I'm never so happy as when I'm in the midst of art supplies. It's like Hanna said, "You're a really good drawer, Quinlyn." When I am in the art room, I freak out in the awesomeness, and that's why I'll be the best art teacher there ever was!

Perfect Paragraph Practise: Unicorn vs. Pegasus Poop Debate

I think Pegasus, not Unicorns poop rainbows. The Unicorn would not be able to get in the sky and actually poop the rainbow. If the Pegasus pooped the rainbow I think it would be much prettier than if the Unicorns did. Pegasus would poop the rainbows better. That’s why I think Pegasus poops rainbows and not Unicorns.
